You'd run into that problem regardless of what you used for comparison, though. However, using a common frame of reference at least eliminates the possibility of many people describing their own worlds as "nothing special" simply because they assume this is "unusual" for most worlds, without realizing that theirs has traits uncommon in others. On the other hand, by using this world as a standard and asking for differences, you'll be more likely to find them. There aren't animals with abilities like those here have in my world, for example, but there are more abilities that humans could be born with than is apparently possible here. However, I've no idea whether or not such things are common in any other worlds, so I'd likely give a far less accurate answer if I tried to compare it to someone else's idea of a "normal" world.
