2nd Book Read A Accidental Video/Action for Cherrygrove Ω
[Click.
A big paw is batting at the Gear.]
Yang, stop playing with that.
[The Gear is showing the ceiling of an inn in Cherrygrove. A slender hand comes down on the camera briefly, and then the Gear is set on a table, and it shows Spencer Reid (considerably more calm now than he was on Sunday) walking back to the bed, where a very cranky Absol sits with a Munna egg wrapped in a warm towel next to him.
Also, there's half a library's worth of books piled around the room. No, seriously, if you put them all in one stack, it'd nearly be Reid's height.
Absol makes a irritable grunting noise.]
I know, I know, but we'll go out for some fresh air soon, promise. I just need to get through some more of these.
[He picks up a brick-sized book seemingly at random, sitting down on the bed with his legs crossed before placing the wrapped up egg in his lap. In retrospect, he probably shouldn't have taken one before he knew what he was doing, but he doesn't really trust the textbooks here that much and wants to make observations of development by himself.
Yes, someone has started to consider the possibility that he's not completely insane. Since he might not be insane, he wants to learn about where he is, and he wants to learn everything.
He opens up the book and started fanning through the pages, as if he were trying to find his spot, but he doesn't stop. He turns the pages so fast that he can't possibly be reading them, so it's unclear what he's doing.]
Give me half an hour. We'll go out then. And if you really want to, I guess we can go into the woods and find something for you to fight.
[...No, he still hasn't noticed that Yang turned on the Gear. People who told him this wasn't a prank should feel free to gloat and say they told him so.]

Action;
Besides, aside from his awkwardness, Reid was good company. And it wasn't like she didn't have her own share of awkwardness, but he hadn't seemed to mind her need to watch the sun rise every morning, half in fear that it wouldn't, or her wariness over the forest area in general. It had been a calming relief to finally see the town.
But she hovers in the doorway, eyeing the books with a sort of resigned amusement; she still hasn't been able to smile, really, but it's better than it was.]
I was wondering if you'd been buried... [Yami peers around her, still her only pokemon due to Mio's reluctance to catch another one]
Action;
Absol! [Yang makes a loud noise, pleading with Mio to get his Trainer to actually train him instead of read, but Reid doesn't pay mind.]
It would take four hundred textbooks of average weight to crush a human skull, so I think I'm safe for now. [He looks up at her, giving a small smile.] How do you like Cherrygrove so far?
Action;
Mio makes a face at him} Gross. Why do you even know that?
[She's comforted though, taking his attention as permission to step into his room, being mindful of the books as she crossed to look at the Munna egg.] It's nice. I like being able to look out on the water; it's been a while since I've been so close to it. [Mio goes quiet a moment,thoughtful, before speaking in that slightly halting way she does whenever she starts to mention home]
...It reminds me a bit of my village, but my village was a little bigger.
[She's quiet a gain, patting Yami on the head as he crawls up on the bed too.]
You know the books will still be here when you get back. Yang's getting pretty restless. [She's trying Yang, okay? She's trying!]
Action;
[He marks the page he's on.] How long has it been since you've been in your village? [The question is casual, but he knows that there are issues there, something that happened. He doesn't want to pry, but he'd still like to offer a listening ear should Mio like one.
Yang thinks you should try harder.] I know they will be, but if there's something I should be doing to take care of this egg or Yang, I'd like to know what it is as soon as possible.
Action;
The question makes Mio pause, plucking at some loose threads on the bed.] We moved away when we were 8. It's been about 7 years; We went back not too long ago to visit... They're building a dam, so a lot of the forest where we used to play was going to be under water soon.
[That feels like it was an eternity ago though.]
I'd offer to take him out myself, but I think he'd rather it be you. [And besides, Reid needs to get out of the room] A break won't hurt you. Don't make me force you. [She puts her hands on her hips and adopts the sternest look she can. Not that there isn't anything she can really do to force him, but whatever] Just for a little while.
Action;
Reid furrows his brow slightly at that. His tone stays casual, but in reality, he's picking his words carefully.] I thought you didn't like the forest.
[He almost doesn't respond to her otherwise, rapped up as he is in his thoughts, when Yang paws his knee.] Yang, stop that, your claws are sharp.
[Yang starts to paw him harder, his claws catching in Reid's clothes, and makes indignant sounds all the way. Train him. Train him. Train him train him train him train him]
Alright! Alright!
[Good Trainer. With a huff, Reid puts aside the book, cradles the egg carefully in his arms, and slides off the bed. Yang immediately jumps to the floor and pads to the doorway. C'mon, Reid, how is he supposed to protect you if you don't walk him around and level up?]
Action;
[The sentence is left hanging and Mio steps back as Reid moves off the bed. Yang looks pretty pleased a least, and she makes an amused noise.]
Can I go with you? I can watch the egg while you're training. [And train some herself. She's still not entirely sure on this whole fighting pokemon with pokemon thing, but after a few days she's gotten more comfortable with it. It keeps the pokemon active anyway.]
Action;
He walks to the door, turning around and smiling. He's not looking forward to dealing with the sweltering heat again, but he's a skinny man with poor circulation, so he doesn't usually have too much problems with hot days.] I'd like it a lot if you did. Yang gets more into this than I do, and I want to make sure I have my hands free just in case.
[Reid should probably learn more about battling with Pokemon anyway. It looks like that's going to be their primary defense if a person attacks them.]
Action;
But she's glad to be needed and nods, following him] Okay. I can get Yami some exercise too while we're at it. They say there are gyms where you can get badges if you're strong enough. [A moment's hesitation and Mio wonders if she's being silly]
I guess collecting them would give me something to do, so... I have to get strong enough to beat them...
Action;
Reid walks out into the lobby of the inn, pushing the front door open with his hip and holding it open for Mio.] From what I hear, the badges are actually pretty useful. They give you the ability to use things that would apparently allow you to traverse the region more easily. I don't know how it works, but maybe they're like licences...?
Action;
Hmm, maybe...That'd make sense. [She doesn't have much time to dwell on it though, because she grimaces the moment she steps outside and into the heat.]
Ugh. It's so hot. We probably shouldn't be out running around for too long. [Yami didn't seem to mind though as he was already walking ahead, happily going on his way, clearly looking forward to some training and running around, even if his trainer isn't as enthusiastic]
Action;
Action;
People can really adapt, can't they... [She pats Yami on the head, expression thoughtful. A couple days ago she wouldn't have imagined being okay with this, treating it like it's normal, even if she still has a lot to get used to.
Getting some much-needed res had probably helped, and a quiet resignation that she's either gone mad from grief, or this really was some strange world she found herself trapped in.
With a quiet shake of her head she starts off, letting Yami run around ahead of her to look for other pokemon to pounce on while she loses herself in her own thoughts]
Spencer? When did you want to leave Cherrygrove? [She speaks up a little while later, looking around for him] Violet's supposed to have these ruins nearby, I think. You could probably examine them. [And Mio wants to have a chance at the gym leader, but she hardly wants to make this about her]
Action;
I haven't really thought about it, to be honest. I still feel kind of disoriented. I don't think I want to stay here for long, though--not a lot of other people in our situation are in this town.
[Once Reid gets better about actually training his Pokemon, he'll probably want a go at the gym leader too, mostly because it just seems like something to do. Some kind of goal--get all the badges.
But at the mention of ruins, he actually perks up a bit.] Well, the history books here haven't been very helpful. Maybe the ruins would show more about what was here before us.
Action;
[She glances at him, looking a little pleased at his interest in the ruins.] I think more things are talked about rather than written down. But the ruins are supposed to be pretty interesting. Something about puzzles there and weird pokemon.
Action;
I'd be interested in seeing the puzzles. It would give a look into the thought processes of older civilizations. I had almost lost hope that there were any remnants from before now.
Action;
It probably wouldn't take you very long to solve them though, if you can solve 'em as fast as you read. I hope you won't get too bored.
