There's really no such thing as true randomness for anything bigger than at the atomic scale. On our scale, if one knows every single variable involved in a situation, one can predict the outcome. Therefore, there has to be some kind of pattern. People don't just disappear then appear out of thin air in a completely different world.

I can't say that I blame anyone for not wanting to answer that, but for the sake of being thorough and potentially finding a motive if a sentient force is behind this, I felt like I had to ask.
