[He doesn't like going on the network. Like, he really doesn't like going on the network. Unfortunately, he has to move past it right now because SCIENCE and also his munna is sick.

So when the feed starts, Reid (who is wearing HUGE glasses today) is sitting with his back against a tree, taking a break from all the traveling with Mio. Yang the Absol is curled up next to Reid's leg, staring at the communicator. In Reid's arms is the most sad-looking munna ever, and its face looked a little green. It's a sick, sad munna.]

Um, hi?

[Reid cradles Flora the munna carefully, readjusting the glasses on his nose.] Right. Uh, for those of you who don't know, I'm Dr. Spencer Reid. Not that--you don't have to call me that. Spencer or Reid will work fine.

[As you can probably tell, Reid is not good at talking to lots of strangers.]

It's come to my attention that no one's ever formally gathered data about arrivals and departures from this place, and in hopes of finding a pattern that could lead us to being able to better predict who might come and go, I put together a survey. The more people who contribute, the more useful the results will be, so any spare moment you could use to fill it out would be appreciated.

[He switches to text briefly to provide a link to the survey.]

This, um... isn't exactly my realm of expertise? That is, my specialty is largely theoretical and practical applications of knowledge, not setting up studies, and without any kind of possible beta testing, this study isn't exactly what I would call formal. So really, any suggestions on how to improve it or any help from people experienced with correlational studies would be helpful.

[He glances down, his glasses hiding his eyes, and he shifts so the munna is more visible on the screen. The poor thing looks utterly pathetic--she's not even hovering.]

Flora has been very sick since she hatched. Does anyone know what might be wrong with her?

[She'll tell you what's wrong with her. She's living off a steady diet of nothing but sleep terrors and nightmares. Reid, you really should see someone about that.]

Well. Basics, and theories that some other people have suggested. [Seriously, no matter what, there has to be some kind of reason that the people who came here are here. If it was a fluke in the universe, if there was some kind of natural phenomenon that that caused it, then there would be something about the areas they were in or about them themselves that would cause them to be affected. If there is something sentient behind it, if someone's choosing them... then there has to be a reason for the choice.

Reid's just trying to figure out what that reason might be.]

Winter? This past winter, or the winter before that?

Theories. You'll find plenty of those, especially among the earlier arrivals. We've had plenty of time to think about our situation.

[Too much time, even.]

The last one. We had weekly arrivals during the first, even during that December storm. No amputations were needed, luckily.

That December storm? What was that?

[He's going to make note of strange meteorological phenomenon while he's here, and if possible, before he was here. Good thing he thought to buy two notebooks in Cherrygrove.]

Okay, so this past winter, arrivals slowed down to around twice a month. Has it been consistently that pace since then?

During our first December here, there was a snowstorm not long before the holiday people call Christmas. About three meters of it fell in less than a week. Leaving the inns without a Fire-type was madness, so you can imagine the situation in New Bark Town.

[He was traveling back then. Funtimes.]

It has. We do not receive the same volume of arrivals every time, but the arrivals themselves seem stable.

Three meters in less than a week? [Oh yeah, he can imagine the chaos.]

Okay, I'll make note of that. Have there been any other strange weather disturbances in the past two years?

We've had three days of nightmare-inducing fog caused by a wave of Ghost-types, s storm that nearly flooded Olivine, that... whatever it was in May that involved thunderstorms and terrible heat and garbage Pokémon everywhere...

[Those are merely the more memorable, of course.]

Do you mind telling me roughly when those were? Month and whether they were this or last year?

[He's going to remember all of this and then write it down later.]

The fog was in September two years ago. The near flood was last year, almost at the end of May. The last one was this year, early May, with the waves of garbage Pokémon coming first and the weather troubles second.

Okay, I'll take note of that. If you think of anything else, would you please tell me?

Of course. It'd be helpful to have a new point of view on those events. Goodness knows those who were present at the time did not manage to get much out of it.
