3rd Study Done Β Video/Action for Mio Ψ

[He doesn't like going on the network. Like, he really doesn't like going on the network. Unfortunately, he has to move past it right now because SCIENCE and also his munna is sick.

So when the feed starts, Reid (who is wearing HUGE glasses today) is sitting with his back against a tree, taking a break from all the traveling with Mio. Yang the Absol is curled up next to Reid's leg, staring at the communicator. In Reid's arms is the most sad-looking munna ever, and its face looked a little green. It's a sick, sad munna.]

Um, hi?

[Reid cradles Flora the munna carefully, readjusting the glasses on his nose.] Right. Uh, for those of you who don't know, I'm Dr. Spencer Reid. Not that--you don't have to call me that. Spencer or Reid will work fine.

[As you can probably tell, Reid is not good at talking to lots of strangers.]

It's come to my attention that no one's ever formally gathered data about arrivals and departures from this place, and in hopes of finding a pattern that could lead us to being able to better predict who might come and go, I put together a survey. The more people who contribute, the more useful the results will be, so any spare moment you could use to fill it out would be appreciated.

[He switches to text briefly to provide a link to the survey.]

This, um... isn't exactly my realm of expertise? That is, my specialty is largely theoretical and practical applications of knowledge, not setting up studies, and without any kind of possible beta testing, this study isn't exactly what I would call formal. So really, any suggestions on how to improve it or any help from people experienced with correlational studies would be helpful.

On a more personal note...

[He glances down, his glasses hiding his eyes, and he shifts so the munna is more visible on the screen. The poor thing looks utterly pathetic--she's not even hovering.]

Flora has been very sick since she hatched. Does anyone know what might be wrong with her?

[She'll tell you what's wrong with her. She's living off a steady diet of nothing but sleep terrors and nightmares. Reid, you really should see someone about that.]

[Oh hey, you with the panic! Who seems a lot better, which is a good thing.]

I haven't been able to find a pattern to the workings of this place yet, but I'll wish you the best of luck.

[No sarcasm there. It would probably be good to get a new take on it. Also, hi, by the way; video this time. The reason he didn't opt for that LAST time was because he kind of had weird metal plates beneath his eyes and figured that wouldn't be anything Reid would be comfortable seeing. Today, however, they've more or less retreated completely. Just a few red dots if you look closely now. Isn't that comforting.]

I will also note that I'm glad to see you're looking better.

I'll be sure to contribute eventually.

[Which means fairly soon. And you earn a bright smile for the re-introduction.]

I can't say I hold it against you. That kind of change would rock most people's boats, but at least we're in the same one. [Coop doesn't seem too troubled himself, but you know.] I'm Dale Cooper. It's good to meet you, Spencer - well, figuratively.

[Nah, this one just feared curses and prophecies. ... some people would probably call that something similarly deranged, but, well.]

Cooper is fine. It's what most people seem to prefer.

[Including himself, so thanks for asking.]

[hey don't judge 'em til you tried 'em, Reid, come on now.]

Yes, I do. [And because he knows his coworkers well ..] I'm willing to bet those were quite interesting conversations.

[How about both?]

[Although yes, no, at the very least Coop is not a frog, nor does he live on one. Presumably.]

"Spoke" seems like an unusually kind term. Make no mistake, though, he's one of the best.

[As is Albert, and Coop's glad you agree. He is very good people. BUT ALSO]

Is that your starter?
tapestodiane: all of these are mine unless otherwise noted! (Default)

[A nod.]

Did you read up on them? Absols have quite the reputation.

[You'll get to hear his starter theory, most likely. Sharing notes. Being bros. And so on.]

That's right. They were mistakenly thought to bring disasters for some time, while they in reality only sought to warn people about them. They're generally observant and intelligent but notably quiet and not seldom with a penchant for solitude.

[He has his own Absol, he's looked them up. Headtilt for incoming theory -]

Would you say that reflects on you in any way?

[If you by that meant totally DO notice, then sure, absolutely. He'll just quietly observe that for a short moment - that, and the lip-biting, the hesitation in his speech, the choice of words.]

Circumstance doesn't make a habit of respecting the measures we take to prevent it, Spencer.

[Just sort of gently pointing that out. It's okay, you can tell Coop whatever's troubling you. No worries.]
tapestodiane: (is that easier to believe?)

[There's a hint of a smile when he nods again, but not a humorous one - more like he gets it and agrees with what he's saying. Coop's had his fair share of close calls as well, after all, and imagines he does understand what's being alluded to. If not by his own experience, then by having witnessed criminals get creative for a living.]

I highly doubt anything within the BAU could be described as "regular".

[Not that he means to pry, for the record, but their line of work kind of encourages an interrogative line of speech, not to mention a curious disposition. Regardless of the topic, which to be fair looks like it's making Reid - if not uncomfortable, then perhaps defensive - but Coop's always had a knack for poking people to admit what's wrong, while being a hypocrite and never ever talking about his own problems.]

[So in other words this will probably be a beautiful friendship. He'll back off if Reid says to, though.]

[Oh and he'll likely get to that Munna at some point, don't worry, he didn't forget.]

[Aw, Reid ... it's been said before but you'll fit right in.]

[And hah, Coop raises his eyebrows subtly at TOPIC CHANGE INDEED, but he can take a hint and besides, this is still relevant to his original point, which got lost somewhere in the Reid-do-you-need-a-life-coach.]

A Hoothoot. Holmes.

[Many original names: part one. He looks a bit different as he carries on though. It has very little to do with intensity - it's just that this is something to potentially explain, and he'll do it with the ease and interest of someone having mulled this over before and presenting it to see what people think.]

I believe that the starter we recieve upon arrival isn't coincidental.

[Coop will happily life coach him with or without admittance, no worries.]

I'm not sure if they do. But I'd been warned specifically about owls a few weeks prior to my coming here.

[The owls are not what they seem, as spoken by a giant in his hotel room. A memory that's still surprisingly vivid.]

No. But it does imply that whatever brought us here knows about it.

[Oh, back at you, Reid. Coop enjoys employing Sherlock Scan whenever he can. Which is yet another reason to be friends, isn't it?]

Albert's is a Poochyena - canine creature, known for its bite. I'm pretty sure Gordon's is a Wishmur.
