[WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE HIM

WHY

HE DID NOTHING TO IT

But for whatever reason, the world is glitching out around him in particular, and he somehow keeps finding himself landing in a tree. Or a cactus. Or an icy mountain face. Or a roof. Really, he's traveling around both Johto and Kanto, and he's getting a good view of every somewhat elevated surface out there.

So WHEREVER you are, there's the sound of a squeak yipe startled noise above you. And when you look up, there is a thoroughly frazzled genius sitting (or falling) about ten feet up.]

That sounds terribly inconvenient. That isn't normal for this place, is it?

[He sounds a little worried about this. After all, he had appeared here very suddenly himself, and he wouldn't like it at all for that to happen again. Still, he lowers his arm to the ground so that Reid will be able to step off.]

And of course dragons can talk. [Temeraire hopes that this man isn't one of those who seem convinced that dragons are like horses or cows.] I am able to speak French and Chinese, as well.

Oh.

[His pupils have gone very large, his shoulders slightly hunched, and his neck-ruff flattened in dismay, at both statements. He doesn't want to be three months or more without Laurence, nor does he really like the idea that there are places with no dragons at all, or ones he won't be able to communicate properly with.]

[He does feel a bit guilty now for assuming badly of this man, though, when it isn't his fault at all for not knowing about dragons.]

[After a moment more, he asks, voice worried.]

Are there a great many people lost from their worlds here? [He doesn't truly grasp what's meant by different worlds, but he gets the gist.]
