1st Genius α Video/Action for New Bark Ω
[It takes him a bit to figure out how the hell to start the feed. When he finally does, all PokéConnect is treated to the sight of a deceptively calm man dressed in purple pants and a white shirt tied with a gray obi, the traditional psychic’s outfit. An Absol keeps pacing behind him, as if expecting him to fall over at any moment and preparing itself to catch him. Honestly, that’s because it is, since its new Trainer has had a massive panic attack that caused him to pass out once already, and Absol can sense that there will be more to come. This is going to be a long partnership.]
Morgan, if this is a prank, alright. You got me. You win the war.
[The man holds up his hands in defeat, still unnaturally calm.]
I don’t know how you did it, but you can stop now. I get it. You can make the Pokémon go away. Once again, I have no idea how you did it…
[His throat gets tight. He struggles to keep his breathing even.
Please, Morgan. Please oh please make this stop.]
But you can stop it now. I have a lot of work to do, and giving me strange clothes, asking a woman to pretend to be my mother, and trying to make me doubt my own sanity is not helping.
[Please let this be a prank. Please say he’s not completely insane.]
And you can turn off the music while you're at it.

No. This has to be a joke. Pokémon aren't real, that woman is not my mother, and the creature that keeps pacing behind me is not biologically viable.
[Yes. Yes, he needs help.]
Text;
[She considers her options for a moment] Are you in this town too? Bark Town, or something?
My name is Mio.
[She wasn't much better off than him a few hours ago, but she's gone from the point of being too exhausted to do anything but cry, to being too exhausted to do anything but accept that her life has taken another strange, reluctant turn.]
Text;
Yes. New Bark Town. That's what the people around me are saying. Are you here?
My name is Spencer.
Text;
...She doesn't want o think about it right now.]
I am. I'll see if I can find you? I recognize the area fro your video.
Text;
[Normally, he'd be more wary of a stranger trying to find him, but at the moment it seems to be the least of his worries and he really needs to be near someone in his shoes. He's going to just stand here awkwardly with a weird cat-dog-yin-yang thing staring at him.
Stop staring at him, Absol.
You're not real.
Stop it.]
to actionnn
Mio sends it a slightly aggravated look, but she's used to being clung to. Instead she turns her attention back to Spencer and raises her hand in greeting]
Um, hello. [She hopes she didn't just interrupt a staring contest or something. A little self-conscious, she touches the bruising on her neck and shifts her weight]
no subject
[He's hoping he pronounced that right. Also, incoming awkward tactlessness.] That--that bruise. Are you alright? [He jerks forward to look at it, then flinches back, unsure if he should approach her. That's a really weirdly shaped bruise on her neck.]
no subject
The sudden movement trips an internal alarm and she flinches back, bringing her arms up in a long-practiced movement as if to ward a blow. As soon as the movement is completed she feels silly and embarrassed, lowering her arms again]
Sorry, I...I'm okay. [Her hand goes to the bruise again. It hurts, but she's started getting used to the ache, and she tries to change the subject]
I'm more concerned about you, really. You looked like you were trying to stare down your--pokemon. [it seems weird to say it out loud, like somehow that makes it real]
no subject
[Oh, she flinched. Someone's been hurting her. Reid swallows, but he doesn't comment. He needs to learn a little more, but he still doesn't like seeing the signs of abuse on anyone.]
Alright. Alright, i-if you're sure. [He feels kind of foolish. He looks down at the Absol that insists on sitting beside him.] I, uh... I'm not used to being near wild animals? Even domesticated animals don't usually like me much.
[Absol reaffirms his suspicion that this will be a long partnership.]
no subject
She looks over at Absol curiously] Yours' looks kind of neat. [It's got a good two feet on her pokemon, but it looks friendly enough.] What's his name?
no subject
He looks down at the Absol, still a little nervous. Absol sits down quietly on his hindquarters, looking up at his Trainer with the strangest sense of serenity around him.] I, uh, don't really know. I guess it sort of does belong to me. [Because deep down, he's starting to believe that this isn't a prank. The fact that he's almost undoubtedly in the middle of a psychotic episode has yet to completely sink in, but while he waits for it to do so, he supposes he has to... go along with it.] It... I mean, he. One of the people here said he's a male Absol. I haven't really thought of something to call him.
no subject
Mio crouches down, looking at the absol curiously and holds out a hand for him to sniff or...whatever it was pokemon did. That hopefully didn't include biting her]
His head looks like the yin and yang symbol. Maybe name him Yang? That was the masculine side, right?
no subject
The Absol extends his head towards her hands. If he sniffs her, it's hard to tell, but after a moment, he lets out a soft, low,] Absol. [and then he sits back again. He doesn't particularly want to be touched--somehow, he feels like his Trainer should be the first to touch him--but he has judged Mio to be safe. Even though his horn gives soft aches at recent disaster when she's near.
Reid looks down at the Absol, shifting nervously from foot to foot.] Yang. Uh, do you like that? [Because he's noticed the weirdly human gestures the animal makes, like he can understand what they say and he's capable of higher functioning like they are. It's kind of creepy, to be honest.
The Absol looks up at him, and then gives one nod.] Absol.
[The animal nodded at him. Yep, he's crazy.
He looked up at Mio, a little pale.] He likes it.
no subject
A-are you okay? You should sit down! [Mio straightens and reaches for him, not quite sure what to do, but knowing that he should probably sit down before he keels over.]
This is all a bit much, isn't it...
no subject
[It's official. He inherited his mother's schizophrenia. From the looks of it, best case scenario is that he'll have to be heavily medicated for the rest of his life. He flinches a little when she reaches for him, but it's nowhere near as violent as her reaction--just the reaction of a person who's not touched often enough.] Yeah. Yeah, I'll just go... sit down.
[Good thing they're in the middle of a nice grassy town. He drifts away, finding a building and sliding down against the wall until he's sitting on the grass. Yang pads after him, wondering if he should be prepared for his Trainer passing out again.]
no subject
When she returns she's carefully balancing an overfull glass of water procured from one of the nearby houses and hands it over to him, concerned.]
Here, you should drink this. Have you eaten or anything? You look like you're about to be sick. [The thought of food makes her own stomach cramp, but she ignores it as best she can]
no subject
I, uh... th-the woman who said she was my mother wanted me to eat something, but I had to get out of there. I haven't eaten this whole time.
no subject
On the other hand he looks like he needs it. She's sure they can share, right? And then there's the trail mix that came with it... Mind made up she kneels and sits back on her heels, digging through her bag for the bento the woman (the same woman?) had given her earlier.]
Here, then. If you eat you should feel better. I don't mind sharing. [Mio knows if she tries to eat it all at once she'll just end up getting sick anyhow.]
no subject
I, uh... I really don't think I could hold anything down at this point. [...Also, there's that.]
no subject
[Her sableye sniffs curiously at the food, before shaking his head`and retreating, clearly not finding it to its taste. Mio debates it a moment longer, then decides that she's gone without food this long, she can spare another hour or so.
That in mind she carefully packs it back up, eyeing him carefully] Alright, just try to breath then. You can eat later when your stomach's calmed down, but right now... Right now it's probably better if you calm down with it. If you panic, that'll just make it worse.
...We're all in the same situation, so... [So she understands how overwhelming it all is.]
no subject
[He rubs his face with his hands. Yang shifts his weight from paw to paw, then slowly leans against Reid's side. He's really trying to help his Trainer out.]
There's no way I can guarantee that anything I see is real. [He's not even totally sure that Mio's real. How does he know if they're in the same situation if he doesn't even know if she's real?]
no subject
How do you know when it's real, then?
Is it fair to say that they travel together along Route 29?
Sure, if you'd like! \o/
But you can see me, and see these things. [She gestures to Yang and her sableye.] And you can feel the grass and the wind, and you can feel him leaning against you, right? It might be better to just go along with it until you find a better reason, or a way out of here.
[A pause and Mio adds] That's all I can think to do, anyway. And it's not like we can just sit here forever.
Then it's official :3
...Yeah, I can feel him against me. [He hesitates, then tentatively touches Yang's head, running his fingers through the Pokemon's fur. He can feel the heat of a living creature. He can feel the fibers of its fur, a coarse overcoat with a soft undercoat. He can feel Yang's muscles shift with every breath, expanding and contracting over and over.
He finally looks back at her, removing his hand from the Pokemon.] We should go down Route 29. Someone mentioned it to me, and apparently, it's the only way out of here. But first, we need something to hold and boil water with--we'll get sick otherwise.
awww yeeahh. most awkward and cutest of travelers.
Team Woobie forever
