3rd Study Done Β Video/Action for Mio Ψ

[He doesn't like going on the network. Like, he really doesn't like going on the network. Unfortunately, he has to move past it right now because SCIENCE and also his munna is sick.

So when the feed starts, Reid (who is wearing HUGE glasses today) is sitting with his back against a tree, taking a break from all the traveling with Mio. Yang the Absol is curled up next to Reid's leg, staring at the communicator. In Reid's arms is the most sad-looking munna ever, and its face looked a little green. It's a sick, sad munna.]

Um, hi?

[Reid cradles Flora the munna carefully, readjusting the glasses on his nose.] Right. Uh, for those of you who don't know, I'm Dr. Spencer Reid. Not that--you don't have to call me that. Spencer or Reid will work fine.

[As you can probably tell, Reid is not good at talking to lots of strangers.]

It's come to my attention that no one's ever formally gathered data about arrivals and departures from this place, and in hopes of finding a pattern that could lead us to being able to better predict who might come and go, I put together a survey. The more people who contribute, the more useful the results will be, so any spare moment you could use to fill it out would be appreciated.

[He switches to text briefly to provide a link to the survey.]

This, um... isn't exactly my realm of expertise? That is, my specialty is largely theoretical and practical applications of knowledge, not setting up studies, and without any kind of possible beta testing, this study isn't exactly what I would call formal. So really, any suggestions on how to improve it or any help from people experienced with correlational studies would be helpful.

On a more personal note...

[He glances down, his glasses hiding his eyes, and he shifts so the munna is more visible on the screen. The poor thing looks utterly pathetic--she's not even hovering.]

Flora has been very sick since she hatched. Does anyone know what might be wrong with her?

[She'll tell you what's wrong with her. She's living off a steady diet of nothing but sleep terrors and nightmares. Reid, you really should see someone about that.]

A survey? I must confess, I didn't consider putting forth one of these the last time I brought this subject up to the network.

[...though given that he was severely emotionally compromised at the time, who can blame him...]

I will admit, my areas of expertise are basically the same as yours, so I'm afraid I may not be the most help with improving it as a correlational study. I would, however, be fairly interested in seeing the results when you've gotten enough data.

Maybe take her to those Pokemon centers? I'm sure they can help Flora. I can ask my friends if they know anything about it.

I can tell you that there was a change in the pattern of arrivals some time ago, though I cannot remember the exact moment. There used to be newcomers every week, but now the waves happen once every two weeks or so. I also remember a few weeks with no arrivals at all.

A Pokémon Center may be able to help her. Nurse Joy is familiar with all types of Pokémon and she can usually tell what's wrong.

[Pause. Man, he never thought about that.] The survey is a good idea-- actually, I'd have never thought about it. [And he's the omnidisciplinary scientist too!]

If I may ask, what exact field do you work in?

I've got a Musharna--the evolved form of a Munna--and Flora should be able to tell you what's wrong. They're Psychic types and can do telepathy.

[He takes a look at the survey]

That's really long! Can I just tell you my answers instead?

And...what do Munnas eat? I haven't seen one before, but I know how to take care of animals a bit!

[She's been filling out answers on the survey for a while, but honestly she's not sure she's going to send it in. Scientific advancement is something she's all for, naturally, but some of the questions... she's just not sure she wants to answer them, really.

In the midst of debating the issue with herself, she decides to ask about the other issue.]

It looks like you've gotten a lot of help on that poor Munna... was anyone able to give you an answer you could use?

Seriously? No one has gathered that data or- well, I'll toss in my shit for you. It's a start.

Dr. Reid, is it? It's a pleasure.

[Well, he's certainly smirking enough, though it's not an unpleasant expression. He's not exactly in the practice of genuine smiling.]

I spent quite some time attempting to analyze patterns regarding those who are brought to this world, for several months after my own arrival; I can't say I found anything of value. Though I must admit that I'm not a professional in this sort of field; perhaps you'll see something I didn't.

[Man, Reid, your dex is blowing up, isn't it?] Your survey idea must be pretty popular.

[She wonders if she has to fill out the survey too--or, at least, if she should even though she's traveling with him--but there are more important matters at hand]

How's Flora? Did you get anything that'd help?

You know, some questions in that survey are taken from a rather biased perspective, when you think about it...

And is that a munna?

HAVE YOU TRIED TAKING HER TO THE POKEMON CENTER? IT'S A HOSPITAL, BUT FOR POKEMON. THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP.

[While he waits for an answer, he'll get started on that survey.]

The reason he didn't opt for that LAST time was because he kind of had weird metal plates beneath his eyes and figured that wouldn't be anything Reid would be comfortable seeing. [Glancing over the survey, Crow doesn't... feel very eager to answer the questions. Things he's willing to share completely honestly with someone he barely knows (and a cop on top of that) end around the "how long you've been here" part, and while he doesn't mind talking about his world in general, the fact Spencer asks about the supernatural aspects of it makes it really difficult to respond to, if only because the duelist isn't the lying type (besides, that would make the survey useless, right?) and he doesn't want to talk about how he's involved in fights between gods here.]

... Not to clip your wings or anything, but people have been trying to figure that out for years, with no result. I don't think there is any pattern to be found...

[Although, to be honest, he's been noticing some things, such as his two best friends from home usually coming and going at the same time... but that no longer applies.]

As for your Pokémon, you might have better luck asking Nurse Joy... she'll probably know what to do.

*well, apparently SOMEONE'S pokemon have been playing with his 'gear, because all you see is a nice closeup of a Kadabra apparently fiddling with it. There's a scolding-sounding squawk from offscreen, then suddenly a Staraptor appears, seeming gesturing to the 'gear and scolding the Kadabra. the Kadabra mostly ignores this, but the Staraptor persists, and....

...oops, look like the Staraptor forgot to take into account the fact that the Kadabra apparently knows Thunderpunch. unsurprisingly the 'gear is dropped in the process, shutting it off*
